Convergence to fractional Brownian motion and to the Telecom process: the integral representation approach
It has become common practice to use heavy-tailed distributions in order to describe the variations in time and space of network traffic workloads. The asymptotic behavior of these workloads is complex; different limit processes emerge depending on the specifics of the work arrival structure and the nature of the asymptotic scaling. We focus on two variants of the infinite source Poisson model ...
متن کاملConvergence of Scaled Renewal Processes to Fractional Brownian Motion
The superposition process of independent counting renewal processes associated with a heavy-tailed interarrival time distribution is shown to converge weakly after rescaling in time and space to fractional Brownian motion, as the number of renewal processes tends to innnity. Corresponding results for continuous arrival uid processes are discussed.
متن کاملConvergence to a self-normalized G-Brownian motion
G-Brownian motion has a very rich and interesting new structure that nontrivially generalizes the classical Brownian motion. Its quadratic variation process is also a continuous process with independent and stationary increments. We prove a self-normalized functional central limit theorem for independent and identically distributed random variables under the sub-linear expectation with the limi...
متن کاملNonincrease Everywhere of the Brownian Motion Process
The (linear, separable) Brownian motion process has been studied more than any other stochastic process. It has many applications and, at least since Bachelier, probabilists have been at(tract,ed by its delicate and curious properties. It furnished, in the hands of N. Jyiener, the first instance of a satisfactorily defined nondiscrete stochastic process n-ith continuous time parameter, and it i...
